Douglas Robert Anderson

Birth Date: November 8, 1959
Death Date: January 3, 2019

“Douglas Robert Anderson was born to Robert Kenneth Anderson (deceased) and Barbara Carol Lynn (Thacher) on November 8, 1959 in Canoga Park, California where he spent his early years. His family moved to Simi Valley in 1972. Douglas graduated from Royal High School in 1977 and later studied at California State University Northridge before transferring to California State University, Chico where he received his Bachelor or Science in Business Administration in May of 1984. Later that year he began to fulfill a lifelong dream of flying by attending the United States Air Force Officer Training School and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant. In 1985 he married Sandra Peterson whom he met in college. Doug served in the Air Force as an Instructor Pilot on the T-37 and the T-43 and after leaving the Air Force he was hired by United Airlines. IHe and Sandra welcomed a daughter (Kirsten) in 1991 and moved to Denver, Colorado. Doug enjoyed working for United Airlines as a First Officer and Instructor Pilot on the 737 before being promoted to Captain. He and Sandra welcomed a son (Andrew) in 1997. Douglas then spent the next ten years as a First Officer flying internationally on the 747. He was hired by Cathay Pacific Airways as a Simulator Instructor on the 747-400 and moved to Hong Kong where he lived at the time of his death on January 3, 2019. He thoroughly enjoyed teaching others about aviation and was as passionate about learning as he was about sharing his knowledge and experience. His greatest joy was spending time with his children and traveling the world and especially loved taking family and friends on fishing trips to Alaska. Doug’s fun and entertaining personality and spirit of adventure will truly be missed. He is survived by his mother (Barbara Thacher), his children (Kirsten and Andrew Anderson), his siblings (Charlene Miller, Donna Stramaglia, and Timothy Anderson), as well as many nieces and nephews.”

Romans 8:38-39
“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
