SAN DIEGO – Dr. Robert H. (Bob) McCrackin III was born in Paris, France on November 15, 1931, while his parents Dr. Robert H. McCrackin II and Linda Collins McCrackin were studying to become medical missionaries to the then French Camaroon, Africa. Bob spent his first eight years there before the family returned to the United States, and they eventually settled in San Diego.
He was a graduate of Point Loma High School, San Diego State University, and Fuller Theological Seminary. Bob served in the United States Army and spent time in both Korea and Japan. Upon his discharge he pursued a career in Christian ministry. He was on the ministerial staff of the First Presbyterian Church, San Diego, was Associate Pastor of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of San Diego, and was founding Pastor of the Evangelical Bible Church in La Mesa, from which he retired in 1995 due to health reasons. Additionally, he produced a weekly radio Bible broadcast for 35 years under the auspices of the Bob McCrackin Bible Class, Inc. Bob held an honorary Doctorate of Theology from Linda Vista Bible Seminary.
Bob passed from a stroke brought about by complications related to leukemia. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Frances, sons Robert IV (Susan) of Santee, CA and David (Brenda) of Canonsburg, PA, and grandson Robert V.
Graveside services will be held at Miramar National Cemetery at 5795 Nobel Dr., San Diego CA 92122 at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday July 28, 2016, Reverend Brad Greiner to officiate. In lieu of flowers please send memorial donations to Cornerstone Church of Escondido at 2081 Bear Valley Parkway, Escondido CA 92027.
