Suzanne Loriaux Hamerly, 96, passed on March 28, 2020 at the Belmont Village of Sabre Springs. Born February 2, 1924 and raised in Jumet, Belgium, wife of Roy C. Hamerly (deceased 2002). Suzanne met her husband Roy during World War II and came to the United States shortly after the war ended to live in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She & Roy moved to San Diego in 1986 and began a new life there, taking up daily swimming, joining a dance club & learning Tai Chi. Suzanne served with husband Roy as Eucharistic Ministers at San Rafael Catholic Church in Rancho Bernardo. She was a wonderful cook, and loved good food, socializing, gardening, sewing, reading, and playing the piano. She was a life-long learner and began studying Spanish when she was in her 70's. She loved opera, classical music, symphony concerts, and was a great supporter of the arts. In addition, she loved painting and drawing and sold many of her watercolor and oil paintings at local art shows. Mother of Lynne Barnes (Jim Barnes), Jim Hamerly (Peggy Hamerly), and Paul Hamerly (Nancy Hamerly). Grandmother of Chris Barnes (Gisele), Melanie Barnes-Kluger (Avi), and Erin Barnes (Cliff Thompson; Greg Hamerly (Ivy), Kim Escudero (Ronnie), Susannah Paramo (Sean), and Timothy Hamerly; Katherine Oglesbee (Preston), Andrew Hamerly, and Sarah (Mercy) Hamerly. Great-grandmother of Addie and Callia Kluger; Camille and Harry Thompson; Luke and Eric Hamerly; Brennen and Camren Escudero; Kai and Kiana Paramo. A Celebration of Life will be at a later date.
