Laney was an extreme professional, as well as a good friend. I know, and her widowed husband confirmed that flowers are nice, but something like this, long lived trees, or contributions to a favorite charity, would be more important to her.
I think this is a wonderful way to remember our friends and loved ones, all while helping the planet.

We were recently informed of the passing of my daughters Girl Scout Leader form 40 years ago. As my daughter, her best friend, also a member of the same troop, and I reflected on the years of guidance their leader had provided, we could think of no better way to honor her years of service than giving back to nature.
Thanks to the staff at the Sympathy Store for their seamless assistance with this process.

My tree purchase did not result in the correct dedication statement. However, the Sympathy Store Customer Service team answered my phone call, took careful notes, and was able to make the corrections I requested. It involved clarifying who the tree was from (my siblings and me).
I suggest a clearer process whereby the purchaser has a chance to review how the dedication will appear on the website prior to completing the purchase.

I’d sure like to know what kind of tree and where it will be planted and when it will be planted. Will there be a marker by the tree acknowledging our friend? And, I’m not even sure that you sent a note to the family - you didn’t ask if I wanted to attach a note with a message. How can I write a review when there are so many loose ends and questions. I felt like flowers die, do people really take time to read or keep your cards, but with a tree it gives life to our environment and lives on like the memories of our loved ones. Consider donating a tree. It will grow and spread its life like our loved one has in our memories.

I bought the first memorial tree for my dear friend and misspelled my name. I was embarrassed and didn’t know what to do. So I bought another one, back to back. Same name, same address, same credit card, about 1 minute apart. No misspellings.
I had tried to correct the spelling issue but with no luck. As a result, I thought I had purchased two trees, one of which was an embarrassment.
Soon I received an email telling me that the first one (with my name misspelled) had “run into a glitch and couldn’t be processed.” It was cancelled.
I don’t know if it was divine intervention or what, but I was so pleased with how they handled it. They recognized my mistake and fixed the problem.
I wanted to honor my dear friend and they made it happen, correctly spelled. I am forever grateful.
Great company, great service. Thank you for helping this very old geezer avoid embarrassment in trying to honor my dear friend.

I really love this service. Great idea! I felt the whole process could have been made a bit more transparent. I wasn't quite sure about proceeding as there didn't appear to be much information available about the organization planting the trees & what happens after the purchase.
3 thoughts:
1. Do family members have the option to receive an email regarding how many trees were planted?
2. Public or anonymous option for person(s) purchasing tree.
3. Display and provide link to the organization that will be planting the tree before a purchase is made.
Perhaps there was an FAQ I missed that answers these questions, but these were a few that came to mind when making my purchase.

I was very happy to know that this was an option given other than flowers all the time.
The price was pretty reasonable as well.
A few suggestions for improvements:
It would be nice To know the type of tree or if they are options to choose among the trees.
The option said free delivery but then I got an email saying that the tree was planted. I don't know by whom and where and it would have been nice to To have my family present for the planting. I don't know where it is planted either. And if I want to visit it in the future, is there a name on it?
Another great option is to offer fruit trees as this could offer something back to nature and community such as an apple tree.
Thank you for everything else offered

I am not a "green" extremist but we really liked the thought behind this memorial gift so did it. I also like that one can use PayPal to pay. However, we assumed I could include a note with the notice the recipient would receive when notified of the gift and that opportunity was not given. I at the least expected to be able to sign "From the "Smith" Family" and that was not given either. After going through all the info requested, then the payment, the the "submit" for the payment, it immediately when to the "thank you, your tree has been purchased and notification will be made to the family of the gift given from THE NAME OF THE PERSON ON THE CREDIT CARD. Very, very disappointing because this was supposed to be from our family, not just me, because the deceased was more of a friend of one of our sons and I don't even know if they know my name,, and it was more important they knew it was from my son.Nothing can be done to correct this either. So, doubt if I'd do it again.

I can’t witness the product I ordered in memory of my lost loved one, but I trust that the request and transaction will be honored on the other end of the business deal that can serve as confirmation of the certificate of tree planting and the email letter attachment I received regarding inquiry of the general location of forestry restoration and replenishment in my particular case. To my understanding; The state of Michigan forestry services benefited from my donation in their efforts to replenish the state’s forests and ecosystem. Thank you.

I love the idea of planting a memorial tree but I would like more info as to where its planted or what kind of tree. All I have is a certificate that a child can print on a computer. There really isn't anything that guarantees a tree was or is planted. It's very vague.

Hi, I purchased (5) Memorial Trees for my Mom who just passed away recently. She loved trees so much and had many in her yard over the years. Her yard almost looked like a park and was so shady and cool. As well, she had some pecan trees and other fruit trees too. I couldn't think of a better way than to have these trees planted in a needed forest in her memory. Thanks for the opportunity to share this wonderful gift. My Mom would be so happy!!

Even though I cannot see the memorial tree that I ordered, I trust that the Arbor Day Foundation has/will plant it in a needed forest and that it will be taken care of. I can send the Certificate to my dear sister so she can always remember there is a tree out there with the same name as her husband. It forever will be in my heart as his tree.
I think planting a tree in honor of someone is a wonderful gift. I thought of riding up to "Sundance", while I was visiting relatives in Utah and how beautiful it was and that it feels good to help a forest that needs help.
I appreciate the Memorial Tree gift idea.

I purchased, to be from us all at Community Church of Mountain City, two sets of 3 trees each, for two different family members of a family in our Church. The two funerals were days apart and in an area that suffered much damage and yes, tree loss, in the floods of Helene. One of the uncles was extra-fond of nature, so the choice was perfect.
Thank you!

Planting a tree in honor and memory of a loved one is a living legacy that lasts longer than all of the flowers. The certificate can be given to the family for framing, as a reminder of that living legacy.
Planting trees also helps bring oxygen to the air, shelter for birds and animals.

I plant a lots of trees and all the company they give me the place where they plant that tree.
Maybe I will go and see the tree and put a black brass around the tree.

I can’t say enough good things about the Sympathy Store and their thoughtful memorial tree planting program. It is such a beautiful way to honor a loved one while giving back to the environment. What really touched me is that they plant these trees in areas where they’re needed the most, creating a lasting legacy that helps restore nature. I do not know if specific locations can be chosen, however.
The process couldn’t have been easier for the departed’s family — no extra effort was required on our part as the donor, either. It gave us peace of mind knowing that something so meaningful was being done on our behalf during a difficult time.
This offering goes beyond a simple gesture; it’s a living tribute that will benefit generations to come. I highly recommend the Sympathy Store to anyone looking for a heartfelt way to remember their loved ones.

I thought the tree was going to be delivered to us so we could plant it in our back yard! Haha I had no idea it was going to be planted in some random forest in America. I spoke at the funeral and told the audience, "If you travel across America, you need to know that our tree for Dave Coke is planted out there somewhere." They laughed.

I think this is a wonderful idea however I feel it should have been posted up front that the tree will be planted in Michigan and my aunt lived in TN. I would not have purchased this had I known the location. Suggestion adopt an area in the state the person lives in so families can go visit the tree they donated in their memory with a name plate or certificate displayed at the tree in their memory. Not satisfied!

RATING:
I love the option of planting trees in memory of my or others' loved ones! I like to pass along the certificates as reminders; they look somewhat "official" emphasizing that something meaningful and lasting has been done.
That said, my most recent certificate was not what I was used to or expected. It was similar in text and had the tree of life seal, but the graphics and border were very bright and almost cartoonish. This may appeal to others, but I was not happy - I added a note in my condolences card that trees had been planted, but I did not pass a copy of the certificate along to the family.

My reason for not giving 5 stars is it kind of feels like I just paid for a certificate. When I asked where the tree was planted the response was "Unfortunately, we are currently unable to provide the exact planting locations due to the challenging terrains and limited accessibility of the areas most in need." Even if it had just said it's in this park or this forest.

Apparently purchasing flowers includes a note of sympathy to the recipient, but buying trees does not. I even called the toll free number for help regarding this. When you purchase, it goes straight to the billing information and that’s the only thing you can fill in. This also makes it look like the owner of the credit card is the only sender, not a family, not a group of friends, not members off a congregation, etc.
I have done memorial tree purchases before through other funeral homes and was able to write a note.

I love the fact that I can purchase these memorial trees, but I did the same thing a few weeks ago for one of my employees and the certificate that I got named the location, including longitude and latitude, of where the trees were actually planted. My sister-in-law said she would have loved that.

The choices for memorials is defined well, along with the price points for each. Selection is as simple as selecting a block, and checking it. Pricing is reasonable. I am very satisfied with the process!!! How the trees are selected and planted is explained well in the receipt process. The United States Forest Service and Arbor Day Foundation are excellent choices for distribution.

I love the idea of planting the trees. Flowers are beautiful, but this gave me an opportunity to add something behind that will last much longer and help the planet.
The only disappointment for me was that I didn’t have more trees options. I would have liked to have planted a more beautiful looking tree
than the one offered.
I loved the opportunity of planting a tree.

I think it's a nice sentiment to plant a tree so someone's memory can live on with the ones they left behind. It's also nice that the tree may remain on earth long after we have all passed away. It would be nice if the company could show photos of your tree and where it is planted. Does it get a marker to show who the tree is planted for? As of now one can only guess what the tree looks like and where it will go. From experience purchasing trees from other flower delivery companies, I am guessing that it is a tiny little sapling or even just a seed, rather than the robust mature tree shown in the advertisement. I like the sentiment of the tree, however if there was an option to donate to the families personal cause or charitable organization, I would have done that instead.

I always purchase a Memorial Tree for the memory if a loved one. It’s something that lasts & is their for a lifetime. It shares your loved ones memory; as well as helping the environment & our planet. The purchase is clear, you get a certificate with tge loved ones name; and notification of where it is to be planted when it’s ready. It’s such a cool and loving thing to do for a loved ones memory❤️

Today many families prefer donations to worthy causes in memory of their loved one, but often we don’t remember the organization or misplace the necessary information. Finding the memorial tree gift at the time was a wonderful option that helped in paying one’s respect immediately with a purposeful and lasting memory. Easy and efficient to purchase. It’s definitely a 5 star recommendation.

I ordered a memorial tree. I had a few questions so I called the Sympathy store. The gentleman I talked with was so patient and kind. He answered all my questions and even asked if he could help me with anything else. Was very helpful during a very hard time. I would definitely recommend this store to anyone.

This is a convenient way to buy something to help the environment and help improve "climate change" . . .
I would recommend this option . . . Thanks

I really love the idea of having a tree planted in memory of someone. Instead of flowers that will die or a plant that is nice but some people are just not plant people. A tree is something that will grow and live for many years to come. It will clean the air, shelter birds and other wildlife and will be a living testament to the person for whom it was planted. It is how I will be returned to the earth after my time here is done. We should do all we can to regenerate nature. Thank you for this service.
