Alice K. Marzano's Obituary
Alice K. Marzano September 28, 1921 to July 25, 2010. Alice passed away peacefully in the company of her family after a brief illness. She was born in Minnesota and worked in Washington, DC during the Second World War. There she met her husband, Donald Stewart, also from Minnesota. After the war the couple moved to California and were blessed with twelve children. In a tragic accident at Mt. Baldy in 1969, Donald and three of their children died. Showing great personal courage and strength, Alice established a loving home in San Diego for her surviving children. In 1975, she married Lt. Col. (Ret.) Frank Marzano with whom she spent many happy years until his death in 1994. Alice was devoted to her family and traveled around the country to family reunions in order to maintain their close ties. She was active in her church, loved to dance, play cards, watch Padres games, and most recently do jigsaw puzzles. She was especially close to her grandchildren. Many of them lived with her in San Diego over the years. Alice is survived by her nine children (Allan, Michael, Susan, Jim, Kathy, Maureen, Dan, Richard, and Kristin), 18 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and her sister Mildred in Minnesota. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00a.m. on Monday, August 16, 2010 at Our Mother of Confidence Catholic Church in San Diego. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be mailed to Our Mother of Confidence Catholic Church, 3131 Governor Dr, SD CA 92122 or The Padres Foundation for Children, San Diego Padres, 100 Park Blvd, SD CA 92101 attn: Sue Botos.
