Our neighborhood knew Anne was very independent. We look out for each other in our little community. We did not get to know Anne until the later years of her life. A few months before Anne passed away, while recuperating from a broken arm, we had the joy of getting to know Anne. Anne loved to come to our house to talk and play with our dog, Petie. She would arrive at our front door with her care-giver and ring the chimes to let us know she was ready to visit. I learned she loved to play scrabble, so we played a game, when she brought her board and tiles with her. During our visits, I learned that Anne loved chocolate chip cookies and fresh lemonade. We had the honor of making these for her. The delight on her face was all we needed to know. It was fun to make her happy. Anne also loved the spice cake I made for her. As a thank you, Anne shared some home-made bean soup with us: the best bean soup I had ever eaten. We will miss Anne's visits. Rest in Peace neighbor and friend.
