Conrado Blanco's Obituary
Conrado Blanco – “Garong” – “Connie” passed away peacefully on 29 March 2010 in his home with loved ones by his side. Conrado was born in Botolan, Zambales, Philippines on 31 October 1927. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy at age 18, and was stationed in China aboard USS LCI(L) 989. He served honorably and proudly but for only four years, retiring with full military benefits. After the Navy, he became a barber and was a fixture at The Quad/Clairemont Village Barber Shop for over 35 years retiring in 1990. He has been a resident of San Diego since 1949. He was a parishioner of St. Catherine Laboure’ Parish, an original and active member of the Botolan Circle of San Diego, and a member of the Iba Zambales Association of Southern California. He was also a life-long, die-hard Padres fan, and a cross-word puzzle whiz. A devoted and loving husband, dad, and grandpa, he is survived by his wife of 50 years Juanita (Aning), son Conrad, son James and daughter-in-law, Shela, and grandchildren Kristin, Nick, and Nadine. He is also survived by three sisters, Consolacian, Adelina, and Luzviminda. He will be terribly missed by family and friends, and all who knew him.Arrangements under the direction of Clairemont Mortuary, San Diego, CA.
