David Xavier Durkin's Obituary
David Xavier Durkin, passed away on April 27, 2017 in San Diego,CA. was bornon October 21, 1953 in San Diego, CA.
Dave was the original “life is good” guy. He was a humble man with a zest for life. He was often quick to smile, laugh and share a story. Dave had a wonderful ability to find common ground with everyone and parlayed the common ground into lifelong friendships.
He loved baseball. Wanting to share his love of baseball with his sons and their friends, he was a baseball coach and manager at North City Youth Baseball and Clairemont Pony for years. He delighted in teaching baseball skills and strategy to the young baseball players. He always treasured his long baseball debrief conversations with his fellow coaches and managers, then and now. Dave recently returned to coaching to manage his nephews’ fall ball team at Sierra Mesa Little League.
Sharing music was one of his passions. Dave appreciated all music genres from Jazz to Hawaiian to World Music to Rock n Roll. When Dave learned about a new musician or band, he went all in. He pretty much bought every album they made. He would then spread the word about the group to his family and friends. He thoroughly enjoyed going to concerts at both local and well known venues especially with his family and friends.
Dave’s law practice was modest. He became an attorney, not as a means to become wealthy, but because it was a way for him to help his friends and contribute to his community. His lifelong friends and family were clients and his clients were lifelong friends.
