Donna Garcia Sevilla Bustria's Obituary
Donna Sevilla Bustria was born on November 20, 1972 to Percival De Jesus Sevilla and Elsa Blanca Garcia, in Ibajay, Philippines. After Aklan Catholic College, she went on to study Nursing at Iloilo Doctors College, and graduated with a B.S. in Nursing. Donna worked as an RN for 21 years; 17 at Scripps Mercy Hospital, San Diego; 4 at Veterans Memorial Medical Center, Quezon City, Manila, Philippines. She enjoyed baking, drawing, singing, going for walks on the beach, Buko salad ice cream, anything coconut flavored, movies, her BFF’s from work, Disneyland, and loved spending time with her children.
Donna was a stroke survivor in March 2014. She was diagnosed with metastatic stage IV breast cancer in October 2019, and miraculously healed by March 2020. Donna was a Godsend, my angel on Earth. She was kind, good-hearted, and compassionate; an amazing mother to our four wonderful children, the best friend and wife a man could ask for. Donna helped me become a better husband, great father, and strong Catholic during our 21 years together. Donna always ensured we raised our children with a strong Catholic faith and loving attitude. Tragically, my Mahal was called away by God sooner than anyone expected. On January 27, 2022, Donna Sevilla Bustria became a casualty of Covid-19 hospital protocols.
Donna Sevilla and I first met in December 2000, when my mom asked me to set her up on a blind date with a friend of mine. He asked me to tag along, and Donna had brought my cousin Rose (her good friend she knew from the Philippines) to tag along too. Donna and I fell in love at first sight. We were married on March 3, 2001, in San Diego, California. Together we raised 4 children: Ariana, Benjamin R., Victoria, and Matthew Bustria. Donna was the strongest person my children and I have ever known. We loved her dearly and there is a great loss felt within all of us.
