Donna Helene Brown Whitmore's Obituary
Our sweet Mother, Donna Helene Brown Whitmore, age 88, left this world with her loving daughter at her side, on February 8, 2026, in San Diego, CA. Born in Vallejo, CA., Donna lived a life defined by faith, strength, creativity and a deep, unwavering love for her family.
Donna retired from the VA Medical Center, where she served as an Executive Assistant. Donna found endless joy in crafting—especially primitive rug hooking and quilting. She was a gifted artist and teacher, sharing her talents through many crafting classes. Her creativity was an extension of her generous spirit.
Above all else, Donna was an extraordinary, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She spoke her mind, never gave up, and loved with her whole heart. She was steady when life was difficult, strong when we needed support, and always lead with quiet courage, grace and humility. She will be missed dearly.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents; Donald & Helen Brown; her spouse, Hugh C. Whitmore; her sister, Susan Heidecker; and her daughter, Sheryl Kemp (Markle), as well as other extended family.
She is survived by: her daughters, Teri Morales (Markle) and husband Tom, Laura Cavanagh (Markle); stepchildren Stephen Whitmore and his wife Audrice, and Michelle DeLaFuente (Whitmore). Her grandchildren; Billy, Donald, Rachel, Alyssa, Martin, Robert, David and Ariel. Her great-grandchildren; Alyssa, Samantha, Matthew, Donna Jean, Theodore, Henry and her 4-legged, constant companion, Bella. Her legacy lives on through each of them.
We will celebrate her love and life with a memorial service on February 16, 2026, 2:00 p.m. at Clairemont Mortuary in San Diego, CA.
Internment will be on a later date at Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery.
