Dorothy Toyoko Higa's Obituary
Dorothy Toyoko Higa, 85, of Chula Vista, CA passed away on Oct 23, 2018.
She was born in Osaka, Japan and lost most of her family in the historic World War II battles of Okinawa. She was one of the few students to survive Tsushima Maru sinking by USS Bowfin. She married Jenkichi Higa on Jan 26, 1956 and stayed at home with their four children. Once her children were grown, she managed a small food store on Camp Kinser and retired with 10 years of service from AAFES in 1992. She was very proud of her four children and her greatest love and joy was for her 6 grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held at the San Diego Japanese Christian Church, 1920 E St, San Diego at 1:00pm on Nov 1, 2018. Interment will be in Hawaii, where she will be reunited with her husband, Jenkichi.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Japanese Christian Church.
