Douglas Davis Fairfax Jr's Obituary
Celebrating the life of Douglas D. Fairfax, Jr., of San Diego, California passed away on August 5, 2021, surrounded by family and friends. He was born to parents Douglas and Helen Fairfax, on August 30, 1941, in Washington D.C.
Doug was married to his wife Sonona, the love of his life, for 45 years, who survives him. Sonona had four children from a previous marriage Gary, Craig, Bruce and Tammy. Doug is survived by Sister: Nancy Canova and spouse Robert, Children: Gary Ragland and spouse Tina, Craig Ragland, Tammy Ragland-Brough and spouse Larry, and Kathy Munro, Grandchildren: Brittney Jackson and spouse Ronnie, Kara Ragland, Lloyd (Brian) Munro and spouse Ashley, John Munro and partner Kristy Hite, Great Grandchildren: Deja Jackson, Niyah Jackson, Kennedy Munro, and Quincy Jackson. Doug was predeceased by parents Doug and Helen Fairfax and child Bruce Ragland.
Doug served in the Army and retired from the Department of Defense Civil Service after more than 30 years. In his spare time, he loved to watch and participate in many sports and games, and take the grandchildren to amusement parks and the Del Mar Fair, so much so, he worked part time for the San Diego Padres and at the Del Mar Fairgrounds during horse racing season. Doug also enjoyed traveling via cruise ship every year, with sister and brother in-law, Peggy and Fred Beauchamp.
Doug is being cremated and a graveside funeral will be held at a later time in Leesburg, Virginia, where his parents are buried.
