Edna Mae Van Saun's Obituary
Our Beloved Mother, Edna Mae Van Saun, passed away on February 28, 2018 at the age of 95. She was a native of Callaway, Nebraska. Edna was born on May 14th of 1922, one of seven children to Henry and Arminta Ridder. She moved to Long Beach, Calif., when she was 20 years old and worked for Douglas Aircraft. Edna then married our father, Bill Clark. They moved to San Diego where he was in the navy and Edna worked at Ryan as a “Rosie the Riveter”. Edna worked at many things but retired from Kaiser Permanente when she was 65. She and her 2nd husband, John Van Saun loved to travel and went everywhere in their motor home. After John passed away in 2005, Edna was able to continue living alone until just a few months ago. She was a woman of many talents and sewing was one of them. She made many of our clothes and was able to decorate her homes with her many skills. Edna is reunited with her husband, John; her grandson, Aaron; and her 5 brothers, Ted, Neal, Frank, Don and James. She is survived by her one sister, Virginia Heinrich and 3 daughters Carol O’Neill (Kevin), Diane Shelstead (Stan), and Vickie Murphy (Mike); four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and one great, great grandson. Edna Mae will be missed by all who knew her and loved her. A Memorial Mass will be said on April at 11:00 am at St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church.
