Elaine Amalia Mosley's Obituary
Elaine Amalia Mosley
January 5th, 1927- January 4th 2016
It is with profound sadness we lost our beloved Elaine Amalia Mosley. She was called to her Eternal Reward on the eve before her 89th birthday. Well-deserved Elaine!
Elaine was born in San Diego. She was a graduate of La Jolla High School the Class of 1944. Ms. Mosley was a 37 year retiree of The May Co. (MACY’S) in Mission Valley. She remained in her home in Pacific Beach, on Grand Ave for 62 years. She loved to stroll the “boulevard” down to visit the Pacific shoreline throughout her life at the “beach.”
She was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, neighbor and friend. “Aunt Elaine” to most of us was a woman of great integrity held in highest regard by those who knew her, but humbled in her kindness and generosity beyond measure. She was extremely intelligent, well-read and could retell social or historical events in great detail capturing all in the room with her poise, wit and charm.
She re-located to Santee in 2012, under the loving care of her previous sister-in-law Jeanne Mosley, until her death at their home. Her famous line “they treat you very well here” is a tribute to her much deserved final years.
Pre-deceased are siblings Katherine, George, James, Nicholas, Andrew, and Theodore Mosley. Surviving her are sisters Dorothea Cota and Shirley Harmon; countless great-great nieces and nephews.
May her memory serve us all to do deeds of love and kindness, befitting the upstanding generous woman Elaine.
At her request, no services were held. Scattering of her ashes in the Pacific Ocean, will take place. For those who wish to, contributions may be made in her memory to San Diego Central Library, or La Jolla Light Newspaper www.lajollalight.com.
