Esther J Valdez's Obituary
Esther J. “Pinkie” Valdez, our amazing mother, grandmother/great grandmother (our Nana) passed away on October 29, 2024. Esther was born and lived throughout her life in San Diego. Since 1955 she resided in the same home in Clairemont where she lived a vibrant and independent life right up until her passing. She attended San Diego High School, graduating with the Class of 1951. She married the love of her life, Max C. Valdez, in June 1952. They were happily married for 58 years until Max passed away in March 2011. A devoted Catholic her entire life, she was a founding member and parishioner at St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church, participating and volunteering for the past 60+ years in a variety of positions including as a Guild member, Parish Council secretary, Eucharistic minister, CCD volunteer and Bereavement Ministry member. She devoted her life to her family. Pre-deceased by her adoring husband Max and twin daughters Esther Marie and Mary Ann, she is survived by her children, Christine Elizondo (Bruce) and Richard Valdez (Jamie Wood), six grandchildren, Tyson (Michelle), Devin (Sabrina), Leanne (Victor, Jr.), Kara (Bobby), Kait (Chloe) and Jake, and seven great grandchildren Christopher, Seth, Elysa, Venessa, Cruz, Gabriel and Grace. She had countless family and friends who loved her. She will be dearly missed.
Viewing will be held at Clairemont Mortuary, 4266 Mt. Abernathy Avenue, SD 92111, on Monday, November 4, 2024 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Rosary and Services will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery & Mausoleum Chapel, 4470 Hilltop Drive, SD 92102, on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. Reception immediately following at St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church, 4124 Mt. Abraham Avenue, SD 92111.
