Gilfred James Vickers Jr.'s Obituary
Gilfred “Jim” James Vickers Jr., of San Diego, CA passed away on September 16, 2025. Born on February 18, 1944, in Bangor, ME, he proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 22 years, including during the Vietnam War.
After his military service, Jim worked as a jet engine technician, parts and service sales manager and was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He loved serving his country, traveling the world, sharing his stories, making people laugh and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his children Belinda (Vickers) Tattoli and James Vickers; four grandchildren Connor Vickers, Hannah (Vickers) Cutchall, Kaylea Tattoli and Lindsay Tattoli; one great grandchild Maybelle Cutchall; and his sister Patricia (Vickers) Petrie. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara (Needham) Vickers and his parents, Gilfred James Vickers Sr. and June Williams (Pynes) Vickers.
A viewing will be held Monday, October 6, at Clairemont Mortuary from 4-8pm. A funeral with military honors will be held Thursday, October 9, at Miramar National Cemetery at 12:30pm.
