Gracie Allen Compton's Obituary
Gracie Allen Compton, age 83, passed away peacefully in San Diego, CA. Born on January 15, 1941, in Monette, Arkansas, Gracie spent her early years there until moving to Yuma, AZ at the age of 11. She resided in Yuma for 67 years before spending her final five years in San Diego.
Gracie was the second of six children born to Homer Oliver Ware and Vada Mae Shaver. She attended Yuma High School and went on to have a fulfilling career as a manager in the long-term care office for the Arizona state government, retiring in 2006 after 19 years of dedicated service.
In her retirement, Gracie devoted herself to caring for her spouse, Eskel Compton, and volunteering at her church in numerous capacities. She was married to Eskel Lloyd Compton and James Henry Goforth.
Gracie is survived by her brother, James Ware, and sister, Barbara Sims, along with their children and grandchildren. She leaves behind her beloved children: Shayne and Barb Compton (2 children, 1 grandchild), Kim and Davey Smith (2 children, 6 grandchildren), Stacie and LZ Conover (2 children, 2 grandchildren), Jamie and John Reading (3 children), and Brian and Kala Compton (5 children). She had a multitude of nieces, and nephews as well.
Gracie cherished her many friends and loved ones, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her favorite music was Gospel, with a special fondness for The Gaithers.
