Harlene Maloy Brock's Obituary
In Loving Memory of Harlene Maloy Brock
August 2, 1946 – December 31, 2024
Harlene Maloy Brock was born on August 2, 1946, in Grass Valley, California, to Harleth Martin Brock and Elizabeth “Betty” Allene Balch. She grew up in Port Angeles, Washington, where she formed a lifelong friendship and endless memories with Cherie Kidd, who in truth was more sister than friend.
Harlene was a woman of many talents and interests. She graduated from Berkeley with a degree in writing and worked as a stewardess for PSA, enjoying the opportunity to travel and experience the world. She also modeled, worked as a voice-over artist, and spent time in beauty and cosmetics. Throughout her life, Harlene’s warmth and charm made those around her feel valued and special.
Harlene was a loving devoted mother to her son, Bijan, and took great pride in his accomplishments and the man he grew to become, always eager to tell anyone who asked that he was ‘The Best Son’ and how much she loved him. She adored her daughter-in-law, Brittney, and her grandson, Bastian, whom she looked upon with pride and joy, she affectionately declared “He’s so cute!” The very first time she held him. Her love for her family was unwavering, and her presence alone created a home filled with joy, laughter, and compassion.
Harlene had a deep appreciation for the simple pleasures of life. She loved Metallica, and Celine Dion both. She loved watching movies, especially classics like After The Thin Man and family favorites like Hook, and Mrs. Doubtfire. She loved fresh sourdough bread. She had a major sweet tooth and every year on her birthday, she would look forward to getting a treat from Golden Spoon to share with her son, a tradition her family will ensure to continue.
Known for her kindness and sassy sense of humor, Harlene always had a compliment ready and never hesitated to give them, she always made sure others felt seen, accepted and appreciated. She taught us the importance of resilience, of following your dreams, and of never forgetting to say “I love you.” Her strength and unwavering kindness will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her dearly.
Harlene is survived by her loving son Bijan, daughter-in-law Brittney, grandson Bastian, and dear friend and sister by choice Cherie Kidd. Her memory and her legacy of love above all- will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
“And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.” - 1 Corinthians 13:13
