Harry H Plymale

Our dad was a caring loving father, grandfather and husband dedicated to his family. He was also dedicated to serving the community. He loved to teach which resulted in a teaching career of over 40 years. He joined the US Air Force Reserves during the early years of the Vietnam war to teach medics. He was a leader in an organization that built a medical clinic in Baja California. These are only several examples of his dedication to community. Numerous professional and community organizations have benefited from his energy, knowledge and service.
Dad’s commitment to the community and country modeled a serving spirit to his family. As a result, every offspring of his has been involved in some sort of service activity.
We will miss him. Love you Dad!

My memories of Grandpa Harry range from silly moments - in the Mexican restaurant in San Luis Obispo wearing a big sombrero as we all sang Happy Birthday - to more "serious" moments when we would talk about Latin, history and other fun topics.

He was always so supportive of my academic pursuits, and he and Pam always made it a point to be at graduations, plays and other important events in my life, even though that often required a big sacrifice of time driving 2 hours one way just to be a part of it.

Grandpa was serious about what mattered, but also had a fun, goofy side that would come out in family gatherings. His commitment to excellence was inspiring to me, and his encouragement and presence mean so much to me now as I look back.
I am so thankful to have had such a caring and loving Grandpa.

While we will miss him at our family gatherings, I am so grateful to have the hope in Christ that we will see him again.

He was a loving grandfather to my older brother and I. Teaching us children as he did his college students has been unknowingly beneficial in my young adult years (especially in the science classes I attended). Very grateful for the memories we shared together . I will miss him dearly, but am excited to see him in Heaven one day! Love you so much!

Chris and I met Harry in the Sunday school class at College Avenue Baptist Church. Harry is the kind of Freind everyone wants. Likes to laugh, doesn’t say much, and has an awesome tattoo.
I remember when Pam was driving behind him on his motorcycle at 80 years of age and she said your selling that thing. :)
Harry loved Jesus, Pam and his boys.
He loved teaching and in his last years up to the day he passed on was going back to teach. We will miss Harry until we see him again.

Thank you for being a wonderful Father, Father in Law and grandpa. We are forever grateful of the memories we shared! We are beyond blessed that our kids, Leah, Jacob and Pantoof were able to spend time with you, we will forever treasure those times. We will make sure to always tell our kids about how wonderful their grandpa was, and keep the memories alive. You always had such a big heart, so sincere and full of love. You showed us how to live life to the fullest, how to always give it your all! Even until your last days, you were so strong and full of love! We miss you everyday but know you are with us and watching over us. We love you!

Well, it seems I met Harry on the downside of this life...however long or short our time together was, I have been truly blessed in knowing him and his lovely/loving family. Although I will miss his bright eyes and impish smile, there will no mourning "as those who have no hope", as I have the blessed assurance that I will see him again.
May God continue to bless and keep his loved ones safe until we are all together again through Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior.

Harry Hambleton Plymale was born July 13, 1928 in Huntington WV. He grew up in Indiana where he attended college and graduated from Michigan State with a DVM.
He moved to California and ended up teaching at SDSU for several decades.
He was in the military, 3 years after WW11 then after college he entered the Air Force Reserves, serving at March Air Force Base in Riverside County..
He has four children, Phillip of Moseley, VA, Sandra of La Habra, CA, Andrew of San Diego and Evan of Murrieta, CA.
His six grandkids are, Laura, Amy, Jeffrey, Jennifer, Leah and Jacob.
Alzheimer's entered our life the last several years. It eventually took his life on Feb 3, 2022.
Harry and I were married just shy of 44 years, spending the last 36 years in the same home where we raised our boys.
We miss him very much but know he is with his Savior Jesus.
