May 20, 2013Hilda was my first cousin and named after my mother, Hilda Schleicher Baxter, who passed away two years ago at 103 years. She was always very Special to Mother and me. Joe and I will miss our phone conversations with her. We will miss her very special Southern accent. She was a wonderful lady, just like my mother. Our two Hildas are looking down on us now in a better place and waiting for us to join them. Please call us often.Bev and Joe Reynolds
I met Hilda and her family when we moved in across the street from them and she was one of the first to welcome us to the neighborhood. She would always ask 'how are you' before you could ask her even when she was not feeling well. She was truly a Southern Lady and could talk and talk!! I will miss her.
What a joy and privilege to know Hilda, or Jean as I affectionately called her. She was always friendly and welcoming, a true lady of the South. She lives now in a better place where she is free from the sorrows of this life. I love you and miss you, Jean!
Sally, my deepest condolences on the loss of your Mom. I am so glad that I got to meet her on several occasions. She was such a warm, loving and beautiful person. Take care. With love, Melissa
May 16, 2013I have many fond memories of cousin Hilda when we all got together on Friday nights to play carroms and make Hershey fudge. She was a joy to be around because of her upbeat spirit and laughter. When Judy and I went to visit in 1977 she was the ultimate hostess and tour guide. It was amazing how much we did in seven short days touring San Diego, Knotts Berry Farm and even Disneyland. It was a trip we never forgot thanks to her wonderful and warm hospitality. She will always have a special place in our hearts. Our loss is God's blessing but we will miss her.Our sympathy goes out to you all.Love,Herb and Judy Rasnake
I had the wonderful opportunity to meet Hilda when I was 5 years old. I took my first plane ride to visit with my parents (Herb and Judy Rasnake). I remember that trip fondly and am so happy that I had the opportunity to see Hilda, Roy, Sally, and Richard several more times over the years. I went to visit Hilda and her family in San Diego again when I was 25 years old and she was just as sweet and charming as ever. You couldn't help but fall in love with her sweet spirit, genuine kindness, and thoughtfulness of others. I wish I had the opportunity to see her more often than I did. She was a very dear and special lady who I love and will always remember fondly. My sincere condolences to this very special family. With loveā¦.
I grew up knowing Hilda most of my life and it has been a privilege! Although I did not get to see her often, I have very fond memories of visiting with her as a little girl. We had one of the most exciting trips of my childhood visiting with her and her family in California. She had a warm hug and smile waiting on us when we arrived. One thing I also remember was her distinct laughter. It was contagious! She was so upbeat and so lively! As an adult I had another trip of a lifetime flying with my mom (which was my mom's first flight) to go visit Hilda and family again. When we arrived not much changed except the color of her hair and the lines on her face. Her sweet hugs, smiles and spirit were always present and her warm welcome never went away. She was a strong woman who loved her family and life! Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for awhile and leave footprints on our hearts. And we are never, ever the same. Hilda was one of those people who left footprints on your heart!! We will miss you Hilda, but your spirit of love, laughter and family will remain dear to our hearts!! Thoughtfully~Ami Harris Amin
I am so sorry that I was not able to attend the Memorial Service. Hilda was a very special person in my life. One of the things I remember most is that as soon as us we kids would come home from school, we would run over next door to Hilda's where she would read us books. She was one of my most favorite relatives and I am sorry that we lived so far apart. Sincerest sympathy to Roy, Sally and Richard. With love from: Beverly Rasnake Gwynn ( the youngest daughter of Herbert and Alice Rasnake).
