Isaac Fortune
A Long and Enriched Life
Isaac Moses Fortune was born August 30, 1920 in Little Rock Arkansas. Isaac was the first of six children (two boys and four girls). Emma, Clarice, Benjamin and Barbara preceded him in death. Isaac was raised on the family farm along with his siblings until the age of 18 at which point he and the joined the CC work Camp. After leaving the Camps, Isaac joined the U.S. Armed forces at the age of 24. Following his tour of duty he was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in March of 1949. Isaac moved from Arkansas to Missouri where he went to work in the building and construction trades. Isaac moved to LaJolla California where he continued to work in building and construction with Marine Development Construction Company. While employed with Marine Development he met and married Violetta Wilson in 1967. Isaac later went to work with Gentry and Watts Construction Company as the only African American Superintendent building homes on the laJolla Summit until he retired. There were no children born to their union.
Isaac joined Bethel Memorial AME church with his wife, Violetta, where remained a faithful member until his health failed. On Tuesday December 29th, 2015 father God called him home. He leaves to cherish a devoted wife Violetta, his sister Rachel Macon of Douglasville Georgia and host of nieces, nephews and special friends.
