Jack C. Cannady
5-27-1932 to 7-21-2018
Jack was born and raised in Galveston, Texas. He joined the Navy in 1950 and became a member of the Underwater Demolition team, the forerunners to the Navy Seals.
He married Julie Smith and they had 3 children, Marcia, Laurie, and Scott and 1 Grand-daughter Jennifer.
He worked for General Dynamics for the first manned Rocket launch and was VP of finance for the first Apollo mission.
In the defense industry he was VP of Finance for System Development Corporation in Los Angeles.
He then joined Whittaker Corporation in Simi Valley and was VP of Finance.
Returning to San Diego he was also VP of finance at Amex Corporation.
Dr. Mueller at Kistler Aerospace in Kirkland, Washington asked him to come and work with him.
He retired to spend time with his loving wife Julie and his family.
In 2013 he and his wife finally moved to their retirement home in Tehachapi, California where he lived the rest of his life.
The service will be held August 24th (11:30 a.m.) at Clairemont Mortuary located at 4266 Mt. Abernathy, San Diego, CA 92117. Phone: (858) 279-2211.
Burial will take place at Miramar National Cemetery (1:30 p.m.). 5795 Nobel Dr., San Diego, CA 92127
Celebration of Life will be held at Clairemont Mortuary (2:15pm) 4266 Mt. Abernathy, San Diego 92117 immediately following.
