James Elmer Justice's Obituary
It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of James (Jim) Justice. Jim is survived by his wife of 60 years, Angeline; Daughters Brenda Martin (Jay), Julia Lucas (Robert); granddaughters Jessica Martin-Forcier and Jenna Lucas; and his brother Cozel (Cecy).
Jim was born in Mead, Oklahoma to Cecil and Julia Justice. He worked the family farm and was a farm-boy at heart.
Jim joined the Navy and was one of the first Systems Analysts/Data Processing Technicians in the Navy and brought office automation to many commands and supervised many Automated Data Processing Centers during his 22 years of service. Through those years of service Jim rose to the rank of Data Processing Chief Petty Officer. During the Vietnam War Jim was in charge of the Data Processing Center for Commander Naval Forces Vietnam. He received the Navy Achievement Medal with Combat V, Navy Unit Commendation (COMNAVFORV), and the Nation Defense Service Medal with the Bronze Star among many other decorations. Jim retired from the Navy in 1980
After his retirement, Jim began his second career in the Federal Civil Service and supervised the Data Processing Centers at numerous Commands at the Naval Station San Diego and North Island Naval Air Station. Jim retired from Civil Service in 1993.
During his retirement, Jim and Angie loved to caravan to RV sites across the Western United States with the SMART Group and the Alpine Light Group whose members found Jim to be one of the most good-natured and helpful member of the group. Jim was always there to help anyone who was in need, yet being very independent and somewhat stubborn would never ask for help himself. Jim made many yearly trips back to Mead to work on the family farm, meet with friends and attend class reunions. He loved to putter in his workshop and built many unique and useful items for friends and family.
All who come in contact with Jim with regularity always remembered him for his personality and the box of donuts he would always bring to brighten their day. His family and friends will forever miss his friendly disposition, his wonderful smile and loving and giving nature. The world is a lesser place with his death.
Viewing will be on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at the Clairemont Mortuary, 4266 Mt. Abernathy Avenue from 11:30 to 1:30 with burial at Miramar National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.
The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff of 5 West ICU at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla for the care and love they showed Jim during his illness. He could not have received better care than they provided. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim’s name can be made to the Scripps Memorial Fund so they may continue their good work.
