James Gordon Montague's Obituary
James Gordon Montague (Jim) was born in Washington State in 1931. He was a kind and loving father to Michelle Rasmussen, Patricia Montague, and James L. Montague, with his first wife Tasca. In 1973, he met his second wife, Carole Montague, and took into his heart her children, Deane Poole, Deborah DeMott, and Helen Devane. His grandchildren, Doug Most, Trey Chamberlain, Trina Chamberlain, James P. Montague, Sean Devane, Ross DeMott, and Morgan Devane, also survive Jim.
Jim was well known throughout the communities of Santee and El Cajon as a kind and generous person who dedicated his time and efforts to support local causes. After retiring as a Project Engineer from Rohr, he became very active in defending the rights of those living within Mobile Home Communities in the East County.
In his personal life, Jim was known to be a fiercely competitive bridge player, bingo specialist, and food aficionado. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures, and his favorite saying was, “I’m doing so good that I can hardly stand it!” Jim spent his retirement years at Meadowbrook Mobile Home Park in Santee and Solstice Senior Living in El Cajon. He made many lifelong friends that he cherished dearly. Jim is now at peace in heaven.
A Celebration of Jim’s life will be held at Meadowbrook Mobile Home Park, 8301 Mission Gorge Road in Santee on Sunday, November 18th at 12:00 p.m.
