I have two, first Jim was a major influence in my life as the catalyst for my move to Mammoth in 1975 where I spent 40 years. Being a close friend of Jama, Jim and Shari took me (and several others) under their wing and parented me into the world of skiing. Many long weekend caravans to Mammoth ensued together inspiring me to leave San Diego and move to Mammoth. I am forever grateful for his coaching and friendship in my formative years. Second, I think of Jim often when I am shaving. Growing up in a Navy Officer's household, shaving first thing in the morning to be ready for "muster" was an Officer's habit impressed on me. An Officer in the Navy has to be presentable for the ranks at all times. One evening when I was hanging at the Wehsener's home, Jim came home from work and immediately went to shower and shave. I asked him why he shaved after work instead of prior as I thought should be normal. Jim looked at me and said "It depends on who you're shaving for." His top priority was Shari and his family and not the public. That exchange has stuck with me ever since and I try to live by the same philosophy of family first in everything I do. Thanks Jim...you will be missed and remembered.
