James Royce Wells' Obituary
James Royce Wells, of SAN DIEGO, California, born on January 9, 1954 in Franklin, Indiana to the late Maria and Royce Wells, passed away from complications with Alzheimer’s disease at age 64 on May 27, 2018 in San Diego, California. He graduated from San Diego State University. He was in the dairy distributing business with Alta Dena and Knudsen Dairies as an Owner/Milk Distributor since 1977. He stopped working in 2016.
Jim was the loving husband of Clare Aeria Wells. Together, they built a lovely life and beautiful home in Bay Park. He was a devoted husband, caring father and loving grandfather. When his daughters were younger, Jim could be seen as a proud backstage dad or enthusiastic supporter of numerous ballet, jazz, gymnastics and cheer leading activities. He is survived by his daughters, Jacqueline Nicole and Brittany Morgan; his son-in-law, Darren Haugum; his grandchildren, Austin Youker, Dylan Haugum and Rylee Haugum; and a sister, Patricia.
Jim loved skiing, tennis and bike riding. He made many lifelong friends from these sports. Jim was taken from us far too soon but his memory will live on in our hearts. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at the visitation on Saturday, June 9 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Church, 1945 Illion St., San Diego, California, 92110. Following that, there will be a funeral service from 11:00 to 12:00 p.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Church. A memorial luncheon will follow from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at a nearby restaurant. The funeral home is Clairemont Mortuary, 4266 Mt. Abernathy Ave., SAN DIEGO, (858) 279-2211
