Jocelyn C Cabrera's Obituary
Jocelyn Corrales Cabrera, lovingly known to family and friends as “Joy,” “Joie,” and “Auntie Joie,” passed away on May 26, 2026, at the age of 56.
Joy was born on July 31, 1969, in Narvacan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. At the age of 19, she immigrated to the United States in December 1988, where she built a life centered around the people she loved most: her family and close friends.
Although health challenges and disability shortened her time in the workforce, Joy never stopped contributing to the lives of those around her. She devoted herself to helping her sisters and brothers whenever she could and lovingly cared for her nieces and nephews. As the family grew, she embraced the next generation as well, treating her grandnieces and grandnephews as if they were her own grandchildren.
Family was always Joy’s greatest priority. She cherished every opportunity to gather with loved ones, whether for birthdays, holidays, family parties, or simple get togethers. Her laughter was contagious, her presence comforting, and her love for family unwavering.
Joy enjoyed spending time with friends and loved the excitement of playing bingo and visiting casinos. At family celebrations, you could often find her at the mahjong table, sharing laughs and enjoying the company of those around her. She was known for her appreciation of good food, especially Subway sandwiches and a good steak. She also found joy in gardening and camping and took pride in her collection of watches, hats, and caps.
Those who knew Joy will remember her sense of humor, generous heart, and the genuine happiness she brought to every gathering. Her life was a reminder that love is measured not by accomplishments or possessions, but by the care and devotion we give to others.
Joy was preceded in death by her parents, Anastacio and Hortencia Cabrera, and her brothers, Orlando Cabrera and Victorio Cabrera.
She is survived by her loving partner, Annette Bautista; her siblings, Elizabeth Lopez, Ligaya Gonzales, Nilda Cantil, Marieta Pagaduan, Anastacio Cabrera Jr., and Marilyn de Leon; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Jocelyn’s laughter, kindness, and unconditional love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
