John Patrick Currier's Obituary
John Patrick Currier, 69, of San Diego, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2023. He was born June 1, 1953, to Cleo(Jack) Elsworth Currier and Emily(Carey) Mae Tousley, in Chula Vista, California. John was predeceased by his wife of 20 years, Jeanne Patricia Hamilton, whom he diligently nursed until she succumbed to her battle with cancer on April 1, 2017.
John was an entrepreneur who proudly ran his own business for 40+ years, Andrasko’s Carpet, where he worked as a flooring contractor. After his wife’s death, he traveled across the country pulling his fifth wheel, exploring and visiting friends and family. John loved to swap stories and crack jokes. He was affectionately called Johnny by many who knew and loved him.
John had a lifelong passion for the beach, taking his children there in their youth, spending time with his wife and dogs at Dog Beach, and often going there to ride his bike on the boardwalk or enjoy a meal while people watching. He also loved to relax in his backyard palapa by the pool, or could often be seen in a lawn chair in his front yard throwing balls for his dogs just in time to catch the sunset. He would often send pictures of the sunset or the beach to his friends and family.
He is survived by his brother, Larry Joe Currier (Sue) and sister, Sandra Lynn Currier Stanten (dWilly). Besides his siblings, John is survived by five children, Jacob Michael Currier of Pampa, Texas, Joni Marie Walkingstick (Michael) of San Antonio, Texas, Tiran John Currier (April) of Lemon Grove, California, Darren Isaac Currier of San Diego, California, and Michelle Katherine Hamilton (Spencer) of San Antonio, Texas, and eight grandchildren.
