Hello! A few years ago, I purchased a box of ephemera from a local auction here in Massachusetts and it included a handful of letters from Eddie to his crush in 1937-38. Apparently, she broke his heart (given the contents of the letters) and yet she kept his letters for all of these years. The letters also include details about what life was like living on a naval ship as it cruised down the East coast, through the Panama canal and up the West coast.
