Khue Trong Tran's Obituary
Khue Trong Tran was born in Hanoi, Vietnam on October 22, 1936 to Du Trong Tran
and Nga Thi Nguyen. He earned his law degree from the University of Saigon, School of
Law and served as a judge in Vietnam.
Khue married Ngoc Kim Vu in January 1972. Together they had one child,
Thien-Huong, born in January 1973. In 1975, after the Fall of Saigon, they immigrated to
the United States and ultimately forged a new life together in San Diego.
Khue was an important part of the San Diego Vietnamese community, both informally as
a resource to his fellow Vietnamese ex-patriots and in his official role as an employee of
the San Diego Housing Commission, where he worked for 15 dedicated years before
retiring in 2004. A devout Buddhist, he participated actively at the Van Hanh Temple in
Santee. In his spare time, Khue enjoyed visiting with friends, having a good meal,
reading, as well as watching Vietnamese artistic cultural programming.
Khue passed peacefully at home on August 18, 2021. He is survived by his daughter
Thien-Huong, son-in-law Gregory, grandchildren Olive and Bodhi, sisters Lan and Tu,
brother Quynh, as well as extended family. He is remembered with love by his family and
friends who will keep him in their hearts as a man who loved his family, cherished his
friends, and never forgot his memories of his homeland.
