Lindalee Rose Lubach's Obituary
Lindalee Rose Doughty was born in Milwaukee to Arthur and Rose. She was their only child and Rose would say, “God only gave me one, but he gave me the best.” Art had 7 siblings, so Linda had plenty of cousins nearby and her maternal grandparents lived next door.
In school, Linda was in theater and played the clarinet and oboe. When she was 16, she was chosen for an exchange program and spent the summer in Retz, Austria. She kept in touch with the family and multiple generations of the two families have visited on both continents since.
Linda started college in Minnesota and then decided to join her parents for the adventure when Art’s job with United Airlines transferred him to Denver. She graduated with a Bachelor’s and a Master’s in speech pathology from the University of Denver.
In 1969, Linda was ready for her next adventure and moved to San Diego and began working as a deaf and heard-of-hearing teacher. She met Bob (and thought he looked like Omar Sharif). They had their first date at the zoo, married in 1974, moved to Tierrasanta and welcomed Robby, Kimberley and Sean. Linda’s parents moved out to San Diego to be close to the family.
Linda retired in 2008 and started taking once-in-a-lifetime trips every 6 months. She got involved in mah jongg and bunco groups, book clubs and community groups like Assistance League. She liked spending time with her family, going to lunch with friends and going out for Saturday dinners with Bob.
In 2019, Elliot arrived and made Linda the happiest Gramma. In 2021, Maverick arrived and made Linda an even happier Gramma. Linda spent many weekday mornings watching the kids before they started going to daycare.
On August 29, Linda went to heaven to be with Robby, her parents and her grandparents. Her passing leaves a deep void in our hearts and her presence, love and optimism will be so missed. Linda was never without a smile, a joke or sweet words. She was loved and cherished by all who were lucky enough to know her. She was the best daughter, cousin, wife, mom, mother-in-law, gramma and friend and we are grateful for the time we had with her.
