Marion M. Sueppel Casa, 87, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday March 28, 2016 in her residence at Dujarie House, Holy Cross Village, Notre Dame, IN. She was born on June 13, 1928 in Chicago, IL to the late Carl Joseph and the late Myra (Mills) Sueppel. On August 11, 1984 she married Peter A. Casa who preceded her in death on September 18, 2008. Marion entered the congregation of The Holy Child Jesus religious order at the age of 18 and faithfully served our Lord as a grade school and high school educator, as well as English and Drama teacher for 25 years. Marion was called to receive the sacrament of marriage after departing her religious order and in 1984 married the love of her life in Peter Casa. Together they worked for the Chicago Public School system and both retired in 1987. They moved to San Diego, CA where they became very active in their parish, Our Mother of Confidence. Marion was honored at the “Matthew 25” recognition dinner sponsored by Catholic Charities for her service to the parish in organizing Care Ministry, facilitating Eucharistic Ministers, church organist/pianist, and Our Lady of Fatima Statue from home to home, and she participated in Culture of Life Ministries.
Marion was the product of 2 very musically accomplished parents and with her Master’s degree in Music was a proficient pianist. She enjoyed music in every aspect of her life and accompanied the San Diego Monettes at multiple concerts throughout the region.
After Peter’s death Marion moved closer to her brother and his family in South Bend, IN. Marion resided in Holy Cross Village and loved telling people that she lived in Notre Dame, IN. She thoroughly enjoyed the tailgating atmosphere during Notre Dame home football games. She attended daily mass, played music for the residents, and enjoyed the loving care given by the staff.
A vigil service and rosary will be held at 6:00pm Monday April 4, 2016 at Our Mother of Confidence Catholic Church, 3131 Governor Dr, San Diego, CA.
