Marlene Doris Lemon's Obituary
Marlene Doris (Neumann) Lemon:
Long time San Diegan, died Thursday, February 16th at her home surrounded by her family.
Born April 5th, 1934 in Brillion Wisconsin. She grew up on the outskirts of Brillion, the family’s
cheese factory, Neumann Dairy.
After graduating from Brillion High School, she attended Nursing School in Milwaukee WI. Soon
after Nursing School, she married. Her family moved and settled in San Diego, CA in 1958.
She worked as a nurse at a local doctor’s office, and then became a private duty nurse at White
Sands Retirement Home in La Jolla, CA. She started working at Enterprise Car Rental in 1995
and was still employed there until recently.
Marlene’s family was her top priority and rarely missed milestones in their lives, often traveling
to the midwest to attend graduations, weddings, holidays, special events and many times just to
be with them. Time with her family both here in San Diego and out of town was her pride and
joy. Next to family, her friends were the backbone of her life.
Marlene was a member of City View Assembly of God Church and active in their Saints Alive
Sunday School class. She was a member of the women’s singing group, The Sweet Adeline’s
and active in the La Jolla Presbyterian singles group. She volunteered as an usher at the San
Diego Symphony, The Civic Center and was a season ticket holder for over 25 years to The
Lamb’s Players. She was also a member of The Eastern Star.
Faith in the Lord, her Savior, was the most important part of Marlene’s life and she never failed
or shied away from sharing God’s love for and to others.
She was full of energy and adventure, not wanting to miss an opportunity to have fun, this is
what her family will remember most about her.
Marlene is preceded in death by her Father, Anton Neumann, Mother, Ramona (Williams) of
Brillion, WI, her brother Roger Neumann of Appleton, WI. She is survived by her sister, Lorraine
(Neumann) Evel of Brillion, WI, her son Brad Lemon (Carmen) of Dallas, TX, Daughter Jenny
Lemon Kittle Groceman (Mark) of Wichita KS, Daughter Julie Lemon Ford (Fred) of Lampe, MO,
Daughter Janet Lemon Worts (Phillip) of Warner Springs, CA, her grandchildren Clayton Ford
(Rebecca) of Bentonville, AR, Stephanie Worts Melvin (Cole) of Del Mar, CA, Mallory Lemon of
Dallas, TX, Carly Ford Stover (Lucas) of Dallas, TX, Carson Worts of San Diego, CA, Emily Lemon of Dallas, TX, Jaymie Kittle of Wichita, KS, Jacquelyn Worts Johnson (David) of San Diego, CA, Justin Kittle (Taylor)
of Wichita, KS, her great grandchildren Hunter Todd, Haleigh Lemon, John Kittle II, Amelia
Johnson, Emmett Stover and Samuel Johnson. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and
many many beloved friends.
Her family would like to thank all of her friends and caregivers for their love and support.
Marlene’s Celebration of Life service will be Saturday March 4, 11:00 am at City View Church,
San Diego, CA in the Fellowship Center.
