Mary Jane Maloney's Obituary
Mary Jane Maloney, a resident of San Diego, CA for over 50 years, passed away on February 3, 2015. She is survived by her two brothers, Patrick Maloney of Pittsburgh, PA, and Richard Maloney, and his wife, Donna, of Acme, PA. She is survived also by her brother in law, Michael Wohead of Naperville, IL, though preceded in death by her sister, Raymonda Wohead. She is also survived by 8 nieces and nephews, and their families.
She attended Pittsburgh University and became a registered nurse, and served in the Navy Nurse Corps from 1950 – 1952. After she was honorably discharged from the Naval Reserve, she joined the Carmelite Coventry and became a Nun, serving time in Ghana, Africa as a medical missionary. After serving five years in Africa, she returned to California and worked as a nurse at the Veteran’s Hospital in both Livermore and San Diego, CA.
She had a huge heart and a special compassion for the poor. On Monday, March 2, 2015, a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at our Mother of Confidence Church at 10:30 AM, followed by internment at Miramar National Cemetery at 1:00 PM.
