Matiana Martinez Fuentes' Obituary
In Loving Memory of Matiana Fuentes
February 24, 1942
Matiana Fuentes, age 83, of San Diego, California, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. Born on February 24, 1942, in Tecolotlán, Jalisco, Mexico, Matiana spent her early years in her hometown, where she was one of twelve children born to Felipe and Juanita. At the age of 21, she embarked on a new chapter, eventually immigrating to the United States—a journey that marked a defining moment in her life.
On November 30, 1968, Matiana married her love, Pedro Fuentes, in Tijuana, Baja California. Together, they built a warm and loving home in San Diego, raising four children and later welcoming four cherished grandchildren.
A devoted homemaker, Matiana was known for her generosity, resilience, and unwavering loyalty. Her selflessness touched the lives of many, and her presence was a source of comfort and joy to her family, friends, and community. She had a special gift for nurturing—whether it was tending to her garden and beloved orchids or helping raise her grandchildren with love and care.
Matiana found joy in the simple pleasures of life: traveling, listening to Mexican ballads and mariachi music, and spending time with friends over weekly breakfasts or dinners. She also enjoyed visits to the casino, where she shared laughter and companionship. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she remained a devoted Catholic throughout.
She is survived by her beloved husband Pedro, three daughters, one son, four grandchildren, and two sisters. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew her—family, friends, and the many community members who were blessed by her kindness.
Matiana will be remembered for her loving spirit, her strength, and the joy she brought to every life she touched.
