Michael John Frankfurth's Obituary
Michael Frankfurth was born in Foston, Minnesota March 27, 1956. First born to Vernon and Mary Frankfurth, he was the older brother of Karie and John, Growing up in Minnesota, he became an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mike graduated from Strandquist Senior High in 1974. He married Sheri, the girl next door, on November 24, 1979 and together they had four children: Christopher (30), Jamie (28), Matthew (23) and Kathleen (22). Raising his family predominately in California, Michael developed a fondness for deep sea fishing. He returned to college later in life and graduated from California State University, San Marcos in 2001. He was a jack of all trades: Mr. Fix-it, football , basketball and baseball coach, grill master and OMC contemporary Choir member, but his favorite and most recent place of employment was as a civilian Physical Security Specialist contracted for the Marine Corps. In May of 2009, Mike was diagnosed with ALS, more commonly know as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. For three years he battled through and on September 23, 2012 he was called home to the Lord. He is survived by his wife, four children, daughter in law (Jackie) and grandson (Dylan). In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The ALS Association of San Diego or ALS Guardian Angels.
