Naheel Isa Totah's Obituary
Naheel Totah passed peacefully on January 4, 2025, at the age of 89.
Naheel was born June 1, 1935, in Jerusalem, Palestine near the Damascus Gate (Bab el Amoud) to Wadie Lussi and Mariam Ankar, the second of eight siblings. She often spoke of her early years traversing the streets of Jerusalem with her grandmother Rosa Mansour Lussi from Beit Jalla neighborhood of Bethlehem. In 1948, her family moved to their home on Al Shaqrah Street in Al Baladiya neighborhood in the city of Ramallah. Naheel married Isa Ibrahim Totah in 1959, and they moved to San Diego in 1967, with their four children. After Isa passed in 1972, Naheel became an extremely resilient and industrious single mother, as she found herself needing to work to support her four young children. She often received compliments from relatives on how well she raised her children, making her feel proud.
Naheel is survived by her children, their spouses, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Carmen and Basim Mogannam, Ibrahim and Shelly Totah, Abeer and Sal Randazzo, Kameel and Karen Totah. Naheel’s 10 grandchildren and four great grandchildren brought her tremendous joy. Jennifer & husband Nayef (waleed, Raneem, Jenin), Katelyn, Christine, Jad, Lena, Joseph, Serena, Isa, Matthew & wife Camry (Camila), and Michael.
Naheel is also survived by three sisters, Klemans, Nadia, and Rene. Her brothers, Isa, Musa and Ibrahim and her sister Laila preceded her in death.
