Neal W. Davis' Obituary
Neal Davis born on 2/16/1935 in Arkansas.
Died 5/2/2019 in San Diego, CA at home.
Leaving his wife of 40 years, Maxine. Daughter Lesa Davis, step-daughters Jo-Jean Johnston (Ken Davidson) and Toni Catlin. Step-son Rex McCombs (Roslan). Brother Dwight (Sharon)
Davis of Modesto. Predeceased by son Lance and brother Lincoln.
He came to California at the age of 5, graduating high school from Orosi in the San Joaquin Valley. After high school he joined the Air Force and was part of a flight crew for a
B-36. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1957.
In 1962 he began his State career as a surveyor for Caltrans in San Louis Obispo, transferring to San Diego in 1963 working in Design.
In those early days of Caltrans computers, he also worked for several years writing the software program “Profile” that was the State standard for many years.
When he retired in 1997 after 35 years with the State he traveled with his wife, loved to go to casinos and dine on fine food with the love of his life.
