Randall Neal Archer's Obituary
Randall N. Archer, age 74, was born on July 2, 1951, in Butte, Montana, to Royal and Alene Archer. As a young boy he lived in Dillon MT, where he spent his early life biking and horseback riding around town. In 1963, his family moved to Portland, Oregon, where Randy grew up and made his home for many years before relocating to California in 1984.
While living in Portland, Randy worked as a skilled carpenter and builder. He began his career remodeling homes and later became an entrepreneur, owning and operating a manufacturing business that produced gift crates for wineries’ gift packages. On May 14, 1976, he married the love of his life, Barbara, beginning a partnership that spanned nearly five decades.
After moving to California, Randy became deeply involved in his community. He devoted many years to Little League Baseball as a volunteer, umpire, and supporter of youth sports. He also served on the local Parks and Recreation Board for ten years and umpired Little League, Big League, and adult men’s and women’s baseball games. Randy was known for his dedication, fairness, and love of the game.
Randy enjoyed spending time talking with friends and neighbors and going out to dinner with close friends—connections that meant a great deal to him. After working in the newspaper distribution business for 20 years, he retired in 2014. One of the first projects he and Barbara took on in retirement was upgrading their home, completing most of the work themselves—a true reflection of Randy’s lifelong craftsmanship and hands-on spirit.
Randy is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; his sister, Patricia; his son, Jeric (Melissa); and his two beloved granddaughters, Quinn and Kaleigh, whom he adored. He is also survived by his cherished “fur babies”: Dillon and Annie (dogs), Jake (cat), and Bird. He was preceded in death by his parents, Royal and Alene Archer, and his brother-in-law, John.
Randy will be remembered for his work ethic, his commitment to community, his love for family, and the many friendships he built along the way.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
