Richard Robert McAlindin's Obituary
On November 23, 2025, Richard Robert McAlindin, age 87, passed away surrounded by family at his home in San Diego.
Richard, son of David and Catherine McAlindin, leaves behind his devoted wife and best friend, Jeanne McAlindin, who has loved and cherished him since they married over 60 years ago. He also leaves behind his brother, David McAlindin, his three daughters, Catherine White, Sandra Jones, and Rebecca Johnson, his son, Richard McAlindin, his daughter-in-law, Michelle McAlindin, and his three sons-in-law, Todd Borkowski, Scott Jones, and Carl Johnson. He is predeceased by another daughter, Pam Borkowski, and another son Edward McAlindin, who we know embrace him now. He also leaves behind his ten grandchildren, Aidan, Emily, Lauren, Ryan, Evan, Megan, Marin, Quinn, Britney, and Steven, and is predeceased by his granddaughter, Stephanie. He also had six great-grandchildren, Easton, Brantley, Madelynn, Ella Cate, Malley Jeanne, and Dolly Beth, and another great-grandchild, Porter James, on the way.
Richard was a family man above all else. He loved nothing better than being surrounded by his clan at holidays or yearly get-togethers, feasting on corned beef and cabbage on St. Patrick’s Day and bratwurst at Oktoberfest. He laughed easily and sang constantly, always favoring a Frank Sinatra croon. He delighted in painting; it was rare to find him away from his brushes and easel. He was happy with an early morning tee-time, especially when golfing with his son and sons-in-law. He cheered his New York Giants. He loved to play the ponies at Del Mar. He travelled Europe for weeks with Jeanne and family or friends. He was always down to meet for fish and chips and a pint of Guiness at Shakespeare’s Pub.
Richard will be remembered as a man of quiet strength and wisdom. He showed up when it mattered. He worked hard for his family, and they always came first. He made them feel safe, cherished, and very loved. His humor, kindness, and generosity of spirit touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a good man. He brought joy to our lives and our love for him will remain forever.
A Mass will be held for Richard on Saturday, December 6, at 11am, at St. Mary Magdalene, 1945 Illion St. in San Diego, California.
