Robert Edwin Neill's Obituary
Dad passed away from this life and entered into eternal glory on May 2nd. He was 82 years old. He was born in Pittsburg, PA and lived in San Diego as a child. During his youth, he moved around the U.S. due to parental naval reassignments and attended 13 different schools. This gave him an idea of where he would like to spend his future. He spent many years in Nazareth, PA where the family roots were. This is where he met his love, Rose Marie. He joined the Navy in 1961 and toured the world on the U.S.S Enterprise (Aircraft Carrier). When his tour was over, he moved back to San Diego, the town he so loved as a child, this time, with his true love Rose Marie. He wasted no time and started apprenticeship school in the construction field. He joined the “Bridge, Structural and Ornamental Iron Workers union”. He retired as an iron worker after working for 28 years. He belonged to the Elks lodge, Moose lodge, VFW and the San Diego Bonsai Club.
He was a man of many talents and was handy at everything he did. He could fix anything. He had such a green thumb that any plant that he touched, would flourish. During retirement, he kept busy teaching and mastering the art of bonsai and spending time with his young granddaughter. During the course of his life, his hobbies included ocean diving, playing the guitar/singing, learning Taekwondo, golf and fishing. He won many golf tournament trophies and shot a “Hole in One”, 3 different times! He had a passion for dogs his entire life and owned many of them. He survived two different types of cancer and loved life. Music was very important to him, and his favorites were Tom Petty, The Eagles and Lynyrd Skynyrd. His favorite saying “PLAY IT MAN” whenever he heard a great guitar lick. He loved God and was truly a kindhearted, sweet and caring man.
He is survived by his Wife, Rose Marie. Daughter, Elona (Son-in-Law, Michael). Grand Daughter, Samantha and Brother, Jimmy Lee (Sister-In-Law, Sue). Multiple Nephews and Nieces.
