Rodney and I shared the same sober date July 4th. He made the most adorable ugly sweater with a pic of Justin Beaver. My Mom was 90 and had no idea who Justin was but both laughed continually about how ridiculous it was. In 2022, I was here at the Club, and Rodney’s dinner and presents were spectacular. Rodney spoke to folks at their level even if they were inebriated.
I miss Rodney. (Rod) as I used to call him. But I know that he is in a better place. As fun loving and kind as Rodney was there’s no other place he could be. But somewhere fun and exciting.
I think that my most memorable time with Rodney was when we were in his car and I was showing him my new Sony Experia phone (after I changed up from the apple 5 he gave me) and I thought I was all bad with the phone that would RECOGNIZE you waving at it and would take a selfie. I don’t know why but that was it. Rodney helped decorate my house. We started hanging out after running in to each other at the rescue mission thrift store in north park and he has been known to refer to us as kindred souls. Him, Rio Bethune and myself travelled to New York and San Francisco. He was a good friend and when it came to having fun he didn’t take no for an answer. I’m also thankful to Rodney for ‘plugging me in’ and helping me get the iPhone I am typing this on. He would front the money and let me pay it back in increments.
I owe Rodney a lot and you better believe he gets a candle.
Rodney and I had a few inside jokes that made me laugh, he was full if laughter and joy. We were in this thrift store and the goofiest song came on. He was on the third floor and I was like on the first. The song was so ridiculous we ran to find each other in the middle of the thrift shop to laugh, about it. It was "our" song ever since. I loved Rodney so much. I still talk with him even though he is gone. I don't think I will stop talking to him.

Rodney was always so kind. I remember his sense of humor the most. He and I always got told to be quiet in class. Man, I can't believe someone as kind and funny as Rodney is not with us anymore. Much love and prayers to his family during this difficult time.

He was the first person I have a memory of from Standley, he was running through the locker bay singing at the top of his lungs that it was orientation day. Such a funny, kind genuine man.
