Ronald Matthew Wing's Obituary
Ronald Matthew Wing, five weeks short of making his 95th birthday passed on December 22, 2024, at ActivCare Mission Bay.
Ronald was born on January 30, 1930, in Enfield, Connecticut to James Joseph Aloysius and Elvira Madaline (Patterson) Wing one of two children. His sister Beverly Conlon preceded him.
He married Evelyn Dolores Partridge on February 2, 1952, and took on the responsibility of rearing her three children. Their marriage produced two sons.
He joined the Navy in 1948, became a Hospital Corpman, served on the USS Roosevelt Aircraft Carrier, as well as many submarines, Bugara and Sperry to name a few. After 20 years he retired and went to work as an Orthopedic Technician at Kaiser Hospital and became an LVN. Retiring after 25 years, and not one to sit around, he then went to work for Target as a Greeter and eventually became a cashier. His third and last retirement was 17 years later. I called him the Energizer Bunny, and we figured he would outlive all of us. He still shopped at the Target he worked for to keep in touch with those he worked with.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years Evelyn, Step-daughter Dolores June Hannon and Daughter-in-law Kristy Wing, his parents and Beverly Vereshko his sister. Grandpa leaves behind a Step-daughter Donna Preston and spouse Michael, Step-son Harold Partridge, Son James Wing, Son Michel and spouse Shirley, 17 Grandchildren, 26 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great-great Grandchildren, 2 Nieces, 2 Nephews, 8 Great Nieces and Nephews and 15 Great-Great Nieces and Nephews.
He was loved by all of the people he worked with over his three carriers.
Grandpa will be greatly missed.
A service will be help at Miramar National Cemetery, January 21, at 2:15.
