It is Sunday June 26th, 2022 and coming back here thinking of Rufy. I just want to say that looking at this photo it is of course Rufy for sure even though the last I saw him was 1973. I have a couple of pictures I took of Rufy at the Timberlake Job Corps center 26 miles from Estacada Oregon where I studied carpentry.
I had to return about Rufy again. In Job Corps I discovered the hard way there were many men who came from very troubled backgrounds and were very violent. I would spend time at the medical clinic as it was always quiet there, and Rufy and several others did too. One day Rufy suddenly said to me, "Mike you are very nice, but too nice. You are so nice you are 'gooey' nice.” I laughed but he said I could not go through life that way or I will be in perpetual struggle. Even today at 68 yrs old I think back on how his kind advice and observation was so very true. I think about things over the years that happened to me and still happen to me and how I have failed at so much in life and how even as an adult how there are those who will walk right over you, crush you into the earth if you let them. What Rufy said was so true. You’d think I would have learned ha! I think Rufy could see the sun shining of his grandfather that provided his life blood and know his grandfather’s ways of the world and spirit. That was why I tried to look up Rufy, a man I never forgot. I knew I had to come hear and share that. My prayers to all with Rufy’s transcendence into the greater design of things! Those Job Corps photos will surface some day and I'll post them here.
With My Kindest Regards, Mike Jensen
