Theresa Marie Costa's Obituary
Theresa Marie Costa was born on September 21st, 1929, in Boston, Massachusetts and died October 28th, 2024, in San Marcos, California.
Theresa grew up in the Roxbury area of Boston with her father John, mother Marion, brother John and sisters Cecilia, and Phyllis (Shine).
A dance at the Hibernian Hall in Roxbury changed Theresa’s life forever. There she met Salvatore (Salvy) Costa. It was love at first sight as they began their love story and 74 years of marriage. The two were married on October 14th, 1950, at St. Patrick’s church in Roxbury, MA. Their first child, daughter Theresa, was born in 1951 with son, Frank following in 1954 and a second daughter, Carol, born in 1962.
The young family moved from Boston to sunny San Diego in 1955 and settled in the Clairemont area. Sal’s work also took the family to Abilene, TX, Roswell, NM and Spokane, WA.
After raising the family, Theresa spent 15 years working at Kaiser in Clairemont as a housekeeper. She took considerable pride in her work and enjoyed the job. Theresa was also active in St. Catherine Labouré Catholic Church for many years while working and into retirement.
After retiring, Theresa and Sal enjoyed traveling including cruises to Alaska, Mexico and Hawaii as well as trips to visit family in Boston, Spokane, Las Vegas and Italy. They also enjoyed day trip bus tours throughout SoCal along with visits to local casinos. The guiding message throughout their long journey together was always their love for each other and their love of family.
Theresa is survived by her loving husband, Salvatore, children Theresa, Frank and Carol, daughter-in-law Jan, son-in-law Mike, 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews spread across the country. She will be greatly missed by all.
