Thomas Earl McGlome's Obituary
Arrangements under the direction of Clairemont Mortuary, San Diego, CA.Thomas Earl McGlome was born on January 16, 1952 in Philadelphia, Pa. At an early age he walked on his toes like a rabbit and was given the nickname “Peter” after Peter Rabbit. He was the oldest son of Elizabeth McGlone Flood and Frank Flood Jr.Peter was educated in the Philadelphia public schools and graduated from Olney High School in 1969. During the height of the Vietnam War, he decided to serve his country and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1972. He began his illustrious military career as a Gunner in a Field Artillery unit in Germany. He later transferred to the U.S. Army Intelligence Corps where he excelled in various assignments including combat unit support, counter intelligence, and sensitive investigations. His military career allowed him to travel and see the world as he spent 14 years overseas with assignments in Korea, Germany and Belgium as well as 3 tours within the US. After completing 20 years of distinguished military service, he fulfilled a lifetime dream by retiring in sunny Southern California in 1992. His love for intelligence work led to a job with Pinkerton Investigations in Los Angeles. He quickly became one of their top Field Investigators and served them proudly for 17 years until his retirement in 2009. After his second retirement, Peter became active with a local church and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. His hobbies included: travel, racquetball, photography, playing Spades, watching old movies, surfing the internet, and watching his beloved Philadelphia Eagles.He was preceded in death by his mother Elizabeth McGlone Flood and is survived by his father, Frank Flood Jr of Surry, Virginia; 3 brothers Larry Flood of Manhattan, New York, Anthony Flood of Columbus, Ohio and Christopher Flood of Jacksonville, Florida; 3 sister in laws Roslyn Flood, Stella M. Flood, and Kelly Flood; 5 nephews Karlton, Jason, Jeremy, Justin and Jordan; 4 nieces Tiara, Antonique, Ashley and Crystal; 2 uncles, Floyd McGlone of Tallahassee, Fl and Clarence McGlone of North Carolina; 2 aunts, Ethel Carol and Mae Uzzell of Philadelphia, Pa; a very close circle of friends, Louis and Elizabeth Yoe of San Diego, Ca, Po-po “Betty” Young of Oceanside, Ca, and John York of Monrovia, Ca and a host of relatives and friends. Peter had a big heart and was a tremendous blessing to his family and all who knew him. We will deeply miss his voice when he answered the phone “Chateau” and everyone will miss the man that we called “Uncle Pete.” Rest in peace Uncle Pete until we meet again.Respectfully, The family
