Tim James Winterstein's Obituary
Tim James Winterstein, 50, much loved father and grandfather, died of a cardiac arrest while on vacation with his youngest daughter, in Vancouver, BC, Canada.
Tim, of San Diego, was born in Bristol, Pennsylvania. He was the General Manager of the Friendship Hotel in Hillcrest. He was a good man, a wonderful father and grandfather, and the one person in the world that could be counted on to be there if any one of his family or friends needed him. He would drop anything for a loved one in need. He was full of love and life, whether it was telling bad jokes (that were sometimes funny!), or giving a big hug. He was passionate about helping others. He was a former volunteer at Mama’s Kitchen, delivering groceries to housebound AID’s patients and was often buying food or necessities for homeless citizens of San Diego. He was loved well by those who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Carol Winterstein and a child who died in utero of Down Syndrome complications, Dante Serafino Winterstein. He is survived by his children, Seth Winterstein, Josephine Winterstein, Chelsea Duncan, Kevin Merenda, grandchildren, Isabella and Leonardo Roman, brothers, Kevin Winterstein and Jeff Winterstein, Aunt, Joan Neary, ex-wife, Kimberly Bennett, and numerous cousins, other relatives, many friends, and two dogs that adored him.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 7th at Clairemont Mortuary 4266 Mt. Abernathy, San Diego, CA 92117. Viewing will be at 11 am. Funeral service at 12 pm, followed by a reception concluding at 3pm.
