Tony B. Banzon, 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on February 9, 2026, in Newton, Massachusetts.
Based in San Francisco where he pursued a life marked by dedication and service, Tony was born on September 22, 1944, in Bataan, Philippines, with his early childhood framed in the backdrop of World War II. He earned his degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Polytechnic Colleges of the Philippines, laying the foundation for a career built on precision and perseverance.
After immigrating to the United States, Tony proudly served in the U.S. Army at Ft. Rucker, Alabama. His time in uniform reflected his deep commitment to his adopted country and exemplified his steadfast character and steady discipline. Following his time of service to the country in uniform, he began his professional career at Bechtel Engineering Corporation in San Francisco, CA. He carried himself with integrity and a deep sense of compassion, optimism, and tenacity, always ready to help others with sincerity and kindness.
Tony is survived by his loving children, Tina Banzon (Chun-Yu Chang) and Tiffany Banzon (Jesse Pyeatt), and cherished his role as proud grandfather to Nora and Adeline. His family takes peace knowing his legacy lives on through the love and bright light he shared with each of them. He found the most joy in the company of his children and grandchildren and his full life touched many.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on February 16, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church, 4124 Mt. Abraham Ave, San Diego, CA 92111. A Graveside Service will be held on February 17, 2026, at 10:15 AM at Miramar Veteran's National Cemetery 5795 Nobel Dr, San Diego, CA 92122. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions in Tony's memory to a charity of your choice.
