Warlita Muncy's Obituary
MUNCY, MARIA WARLITA CRISTOBAL
Beloved Mom, Sister, Auntie, Great Auntie, and Great Great Auntie.
Dubbed “The Lady,” Maria Warlita Cristobal Muncy was born to parents Cornelio and Honorata Cristobal on January 23, 1942 in the Philippines. She was one of nine children. Known to many as “Lita,” she was named Warlita by her parents because she was born during World War II. A breast-cancer survivor, Lita battled congestive heart failure and went home to be with our heavenly Father on December 23, 2018 in San Diego where she resided for over 56 years. She was 76.
In her final days, Lita was at peace and comfortable. She was happy, loved, pampered, and surrounded by family – her daughter Marissa and son-in-law Steven, siblings, nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, and great grand niece.
Lita was an assertive and opinionated woman with a dry sense of humor. She, Marissa and Steven often referred to her as “The Commander”. When she was in the hospital and later under Hospice care at home, she told jokes and enjoyed spending time with family. She always had a big heart for family – praying for them, being concerned for their safety, and wanting to make sure they were not going hungry by offering them food. She loved to travel and dine out. Lita also enjoyed watching TV. Her favorites were the Food Network, Travel, and real-life detective/crime TV shows especially Forensic Files.
A successful woman, Lita worked as a civilian for the Department of Defense with the Navy Exchange Support Services. She retired from there after more than 35 years of employment. When she was in her 40’s, she developed breast cancer and after surgery and treatment, remained cancer free.
Lita is survived by her daughter Marissa Raynelle Muncy (husband Steven Eustace), siblings Edie Antonio (husband Frank Antonio), Cornelio Cristobal, JR., Alice White (husband Harry White), Randolph Cristobal, and Suzette Cristobal-Williams (husband Rick Cristobal-Williams), thirty-four nieces and nephews, and relatives in the United States and Philippines. Lita was preceded in death by her parents Cornelio and Honorata Cristobal and siblings Loreto Navasca (husband Mariano Navasca), Feliciano Cristobal, and Jesse Cristobal.
“The Lady,” “The Commander” – She is dearly missed.
