William A Dillon's Obituary
William Arnold Dillon, lovingly known as Bill, entered into eternal life on July 10, 2026, at the age of 92. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, faithful Catholic, and friend whose life was defined by humility, kindness, and service to others.
Bill was born on June 8, 1934, near Salem, New York, to Winston and Eleanor Dillon. He spent his early years on the family dairy farm on Dillon Hill. He graduated from high school at sixteen and later moved to San Diego in 1956. He enjoyed a distinguished 35-year career with Caltrans, earning the respect of coworkers through his integrity, dedication, and encouraging spirit.
On July 7, 1970, Bill married the love of his life, Theresa L. Dillon. Nothing brought Bill greater joy than making Theresa happy, and their marriage of 50+ years was a beautiful example of lifelong devotion.
Bill was a loving father to John Dillon, Stephen Dillon, and Paul Dillon. He was a proud grandfather to Kaira Dillon, Jason Dillon, Miranda Dillon, Kyle Dillon, and Travis Kee; step-grandfather to Sara Haveard; and great-grandfather to Tyson and Cayden Kee. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Theresa; his daughter, Deborah Haveard; his parents, Winston and Eleanor Dillon; and his brothers, Kendall, Charles, and Leonard Dillon.
Bill and Theresa became members of Our Mother of Confidence Catholic Church shortly after its founding, having previously worshipped at Saint Mary Magdalene Parish. He volunteered for many years with the Clairemont Little League Hilltoppers as a coach, Vice President, and President, and was an active leader in YMCA Indian Guides and the Boy Scouts.
He loved hiking with his sons, traveling the world—visiting six of the seven continents—and working around the house, where his talents as a handyman were always put to good use. Bill will be remembered as a kind, humble, thoughtful, and encouraging man who inspired others through his quiet example. His greatest legacy is the love he shared, the faith he lived, and the family he cherished. Though he will be deeply missed, his example of compassion, generosity, and unwavering faith will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
